Welcome My name is Elma, a primary school teacher with 45 years of classroom experience.  I lived in Brisbane up until recently and decided it was time for a life-style change and moved to the beautiful Lennox Head region.

With an increasing passion for struggling learners, I became certified in Dyslexia and Language-Based Learning Differences in 2020 and left classroom teaching April 2021.

During my recent studies, it confirmed so much of what I already believed and had experienced.  It also strengthened my passion for helping struggling learners in any way that I could reach out using an Orton Gillingham approach to learning.

I am catering for individuals who struggle to read, spell and write using traditional classroom practices.

I am offering a tutoring service that I know from previous experience, can make a difference using this multi-sensory structured approach.

How can I help your child?

  • Teaching your child in a positive way that encourages learning
  • Helping build confidence by giving your child a path to learning that suits their needs
  • I specialise teaching students with learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia and ASD.

Elma is a gifted, experienced and understanding educator. Our son Joseph spent 12 months receiving tutoring from Elma via the Orton Gillingham program. She allowed him to learn in a ‘safe space’ and tailored sessions specifically for his needs.

During this 12 month period, he developed so much and progressed in all areas of literacy. Not only did he progress academy, Elma helped build Joseph’s confidence, a desire to learn and gave him the ability to ‘dream big’. She had a beautiful style and approach with Joseph which challenged him to ‘dig in’ when required but was also supportive and understanding.

You can see Elma’s passion for helping children play out in every session she prepared for Joseph.

Unfortunately, geographic distance no longer allows Joseph to continue seeing Elma. We will greatly miss her tutoring and the positive input she had on Joseph’s life. The gift she has given Joseph will last a lifetime.
